Welcome to Sunday in a Sip. It's June 29th, 2025, This week, the world served up a brew strong enough to wake Woodstock, and we’re cruisin’ Hot into summer like it’s a little red Corvette on open road. We’re not just stirring the pot, we’re revving the engine, baby. Slow, bold, and just how you dig it. This morning’s mix is steeped in that sun-soaked magic that makes summer hum and life groove a little louder. It’s a wild ride, sure oh baby, but that’s what we’re here for. To pause. Pour slow. Reflect. And take it all in, one mellow sip at a time. So let’s take a glance in the rearview and ease on forward today together.
Tomorrow is National Corvette Day! Vorrrrooom
Let’s talk over a cup of coffee
This morning's blend is equal parts caffeine and conversation. Starting with a new feature for Sunday in a sip, it’s our guest writer section. This week’s article written by E. Gordon Mooneyhan, What’s Happening to America? is a personal reflection on a fading era of hands-on learning, personal responsibility, and resilience. With stories from his youth, while building radios and learning through trial and error. Gordon laments a modern culture where risk is avoided, accountability is lost, and even harmless projects are met with fear. A powerful commentary on how “participation trophy” thinking is replacing the self-reliant spirit that once defined America.

President Donald Trump publicly criticized Israel after its defense minister ordered "intense strikes" on Tehran, just hours after a fragile ceasefire had been announced. The ceasefire, brokered by the US and Qatar, followed a series of escalations: Iran had launched a missile attack on the largest US base in Qatar, the fighting triggered by an initial Israeli attack. Iran denied violating the truce, while European nations largely supported the US position. NATO's chief stated that the US offensive did not violate international law. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said his country had delivered a “slap to America’s face” with its strike on an American base in Qatar, and warned against any further U.S. attacks in his recorded video broadcast on Iranian state television, his first appearance since a ceasefire was declared with Israel after 12 days of war.
More than 150 million Americans were under heat alerts as record-breaking temperatures swept from Texas to Maine. Cities including Boston, Providence, and New York recorded their hottest June temperatures on record, straining power grids and posing serious health risks.

F1 the movie
If you’re a fan of F1 racing, and especially the F1 Netflix, docudrama, you might be taken back by the Hollywood spin, it’s a movie, not reality. The film is visually stunning, mixing real F1 race footage with Hollywood drama, and features a strong supporting cast, including Kerry Condon as the team’s technical director. The F1 team is all actors, but you see some cameos from current F1 stars and the principals of the major race team and car manufacturers. Lewis Hamilton also served as a producer and helped ensure technical accuracy. Several current F1 drivers appear as themselves, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, and Esteban Ocon, all playing their real-life roles on and off the track. The movie enhances its realism by featuring real-life Formula 1 team principals and media personalities in speaking cameo roles. Mercedes’ Toto Wolff appears near the end, hinting at a future with the fictional APX GP team. Haas’s Guenther Steiner critiques the team mid-race, while McLaren’s Zak Brown and Ferrari’s Frédéric Vasseur engage in playful TV banter. Red Bull’s Christian Horner, Williams’ James Vowles, Aston Martin’s Lawrence Stroll, and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali also appear briefly. Sky Sports F1 commentators Martin Brundle and David Croft provide immersive race commentary, and presenter Will Buxton joins with a cameo as himself. Brad Pitt stars in the movie F1 as Sonny Hayes, a once-promising Formula One driver whose career was derailed by a devastating crash in the 1990s. Decades later, Hayes is living out of a van and racing sporadically, driven by his enduring love for the sport rather than fame or fortune. His old friend Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), now the owner of struggling team APX GP, convinces him to return to the F1 grid. Hayes must mentor the team’s talented but volatile rookie, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), sparking a tense rivalry and eventual partnership. As Hayes battles personal demons and the pressures of high-stakes racing, he and Joshua push APX GP toward an unlikely comeback, blending thrilling on-track action with themes of redemption and teamwork. If you’re looking for a movie, go see F1. You will be sitting on the edge of your seats until the end.

Pour Over Life
Let’s face it, this week has felt like someone forgot to put the filter in the coffee machine and just hit “brew.” But even in the mess, there’s one thing that keeps us from losing our collective minds.
The weird, wonderful things we all secretly (or loudly) love.
Like dogs that look like they have eyebrows. Or how the air smells right after it rains on a hot day. Or when someone at a coffee shop starts humming the same TV theme song as you, and suddenly, you're both laughing and feel like instant best friends.
We spend so much time doom scrolling, arguing over pineapple on pizza (we're pro-diplomacy), and trying to convince Alexa we said “play jazz” not “call Jan.” But if we paused long enough to ask, “Hey, what lights your heart on fire?” Then we might find that under all that noise, we’re all warmed by similar sparks.
So here’s your Pour Over challenge this week.
Notice the joy you have in common with someone else. Study it. Ask why it moves you. Let that become the lab manual for surviving these wild times, not just together, but for the greater good.
Because in the end, it’s not just love that saves us. It’s the kind we share on purpose.
