A Tribute in Espresso: Remembering Pope Francis

On Easter Monday, under the soft Roman morning light, the world lost a shepherd of soul. Pope Francis, a man whose warmth was as deep and comforting as an Italian espresso shared among friends. His final blessing, delivered just hours before his passing, echoed like the last sip of a cherished cup, brief, strong, and unforgettable. With a simple “Happy Easter,” he lifted spirits one last time, waving from the pope mobile with the grace of someone who had already given all he could.

For more than a decade, Pope Francis stirred hearts the way a barista stirs crema into coffee, gently, with care and purpose. He reminded us that true strength lies in tenderness and that faith lives best when poured out in love for the poor, the forgotten, and the searching. Even in his final hours, his gratitude, from his lips “Grazie” his words spoke volumes about the kind of man he was: grounded, humble, and ever grateful for the people around him.

Today, we raise our cups to him not in sorrow but in reverence. As the aroma of his legacy lingers in the air, like espresso wafting through a Roman piazza, may we carry his message forward. Jorge Mario Bergoglio, taught us that life, like faith, should be rich, honest, and shared. And now, as he rests, we say with full hearts and loving respect: Grazie, Papa Francesco. Rest in peace.

U.S. News

The Supreme Court ignited a border battle, halting the Trump administration’s push to deport Venezuelan migrants accused of gang ties. Justice Alito, clearly not thrilled, called the decision “unprecedented”, which in SCOTUS-speak basically means “can you believe this nonsense?” Meanwhile, the White House and critics began the usual game of Constitutional Ping-Pong, arguing over due process like it was the final round of Jeopardy!.

Politics

The week was marked by aggressive executive actions, legal battles, public protests, and ongoing international negotiations, a typical week. Do I have to say more?

Sports

Capitals' Dominance Over the Canadiens
It’s the Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Capitals have pressured Montreal into mistakes with a relentless forecheck and efficient breakouts, leading to sustained offensive-zone time and a significant edge in high-danger scoring chances. The Capitals lead the series 2-0, but both games have been close and intense. Montreal has pushed hard in the third period of each game, nearly staging comebacks, but Washington’s goaltender Logan Thompson has shut the door with clutch saves.

The Maple Leafs are one win away from sweeping the Senators after a dramatic overtime victory in Ottawa. Five Canadian teams have made the playoffs, the most since 2020, and all Eastern Canadian teams qualified for the first time since 2017.

Actor Jon Voight, newly appointed as a “special ambassador” to Hollywood by President Trump, is preparing to unveil plans for new federal tax credits to help restore the industry’s “Golden Age,” addressing ongoing job losses and production declines

Pour Over Life

In a recent homily, Pope Francis declared, “You are not forgotten. You are not a mistake. You are a child of God.” His words create a powerful sense of belonging and offer guidance in a world overwhelmed by social comparison, digital noise, and emotional fatigue.

In today’s world, people often think they must look a certain way, be successful, or do something big to be important. Pope Francis reminded us that every person already has value just by being who they are. When he said, “You are not a mistake. You are a child of God,” he said that each of us matters. You matter, no matter what.

I hope you see this message as encouraging people to feel better about themselves, especially during times of sadness, loneliness, or inadequacy. It reminds us that we don’t have to earn our self-worth. Believe in this message: you and future generations are already special and loved just as we are.
