Welcome to Sunday in a Sip. It's June 22nd, 2025, This week, the world poured us a strong cup as we welcome the first week of summer. We’re stirring this week’s headlines into your morning brew. Slow. Strong, and just how you like it. This morning’s blend of conversation is steeped in everything that makes summer sizzle and life a little more interesting. It’s a lot to take in. But that’s why we’re here. To pause. Pour slowly. And reflect—sip by steady sip. Let’s glance back and lean forward, together.

Here is an idea. National Camping Week starts tomorrow, so GO Camping.

Let’s talk over a cup of coffee

This morning’s coffee chatter is rich with flavor and full of trending topics. Summer travel plans are in full swing, with last-minute beach escapes and mountain getaways taking center stage.

What are you doing this summer?

While Tech buzz is brewing strongly, especially around AI tools like code assistants and vocal removers, shaping how we work and create. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy sent a memo to employees this week, stating that the tech giant will likely reduce its headcount in the coming years as AI chatbots and agents assume a greater portion of the workload.

Sports fans are deeply invested in Euro 2025, MLB games, and the buzz surrounding the Paris World Athletics. How are those Yankees doing?

BookTok’s “Romantasy” craze is capturing hearts, while immersive experiences like virtual reality (VR) and interactive art ignite curiosity. How many of you are reading something romantic where the characters live in a fantastical world, and with the plot being an emotional journey?

Wellness is also trending; let's talk CBG gummies, red light therapy, and stress-busting gadgets. Add in home design faves like boucle beds and maximalist art, and it’s clear: coffee talk is where culture, comfort, and curiosity meet.

Oh, did you grab your Sunday in a Sip Travel Mug?

World News

President Donald Trump called on Iran to unconditionally surrender, saying the US knows the location of its leader-in-hiding, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but will not target him at this time. Israel has targeted military and nuclear installations across Iran, including its underground nuclear facility in Natanz. Key elements of Iran’s nuclear program are believed to be in its Fordo nuclear facility. A strike on that site—buried 260 feet into a mountain—would require the use of US bunker-buster bombs. Diplomatic efforts are reportedly underway in a "last shot" attempt to de-escalate the situation before the United States decides on any direct involvement in support of Israel, but the U.S. Military is escalating in the region. A rapid and robust U.S. military mobilization, with a focus on deterrence and readiness has begun.

Historic Event at White Sox Park

Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope and a native of Chicago's South Side, made history by delivering his first public address to a U.S. audience via video at Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox. Drawing over 30,000 attendees and marked a unique convergence of faith, community, and baseball in the city.

The occasion was organized by the Archdiocese of Chicago and featured a Catholic Mass at the ballpark, with Pope Leo's pre-recorded message broadcast on the stadium's jumbotron. The pope called on Chicagoans to seek true meaning in God, service, and community, urging unity and hope for the city's future.

Say Good Bye to Artificial Dyes

The Kool-Aid Man’s bursting through with a cleaner message—no more artificial dyes. Kraft Heinz says goodbye to synthetic colors in U.S. products by 2027, with Crystal Light, Kool-Aid, Jell-O, and Jet-Puffed all going au naturel. Meanwhile, General Mills is on the same path, pulling certified dyes from cereals and school foods by 2026. The shift? Less color, more care.

This week, America's Sweethearts did more than smile for the sidelines. Thanks to a Netflix docuseries and some behind-the-scenes hustle, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders brewed up a big win: a 4x raise. From $15 to as much as $75 an hour, their worth is finally catching up to their work. Pour one out for progress—and for the women who keep showing up, on and off the field. Pour Over Life

We all have them—unfinished projects, unresolved problems, or that nagging sense that something’s off. These are the messes and incompletes that clutter our minds, interrupt our flow, and keep us from showing up fully. But just like a good pour-over coffee, clarity comes when we take the time to filter through the chaos with intention. It’s time to start cleaning up your deeper messes, your decisions, and sometimes the ones in your heart.

It begins with understanding not just what’s wrong but why it’s bad. That’s where Root Cause Analysis, or RCA, comes in. This method is designed to uncover the underlying causes of a recurring problem rather than simply addressing its symptoms. Root Cause Analysis encourages you to define the problem clearly and honestly, collect relevant data, and examine all contributing factors. Often, what appears to be the issue on the surface is just one layer of something much more profound.

Once the root cause is identified, you can design and implement a solution with greater precision and a more significant impact. But the process doesn’t end there. After a solution has been introduced, whether it’s a new workflow, a life hack, or a better communication strategy, it’s essential to test it and measure its effectiveness.

This post-implementation phase is often overlooked because it’s where real learning happens. It enables you to confirm whether your efforts are producing the desired results, allowing you to refine your approach. Actual progress comes through ongoing attention.

That’s why many turn to the Continuous Improvement Cycle, especially the Plan-Do-Check-Act model. This framework encourages us to continue learning, adjusting, and moving forward. It’s a mindset more than a checklist. I call it a commitment to evolution over perfection.

Cleaning up your incompletes doesn’t mean tying up every loose end at once. It means choosing one area of your life or work and deciding it’s worth doing better.

It means asking honest questions, being willing to dig deeper, and taking deliberate action. While taking one thoughtful step at a time.

And like that perfect cup of coffee, the result is something smoother, more balanced, and deeply satisfying. Now, go out there are starting cleaning up YOUR mess.
