Welcome to Sunday in a Sip. It's December 28th, 2025. Tomorrow is Tick Tock Day, observed annually on December 29th, before the end of the year. Tick Tock Day is a fun reminder to wrap up any unfinished business, goals, or tasks before the year officially ends, acting as a final nudge to finish to-do lists, make last-minute charitable donations, or sort out personal matters before January. It's not about the social media app TikTok.
It is a day that encourages using these last few days of the year productively, whether for big projects or small personal chores, to start the new year fresh.
One thing you should do is call a friend you haven’t heard from in a while, because today is call-a-friend day.
The week of December 22, 2025, was defined by a rapid transformation of American foreign policy and historic shifts in the global economy. The Trump administration dominated headlines by recalling over two dozen career ambassadors and appointing a special envoy to Greenland, signaling a robust "America First" diplomatic pivot. On the domestic front, the unveiling of the USS Defiant battleship and the suspension of major offshore wind projects underscored a strategic shift toward traditional defense and energy. While financial markets saw gold prices soar to a record $4,500 per ounce and the tech sector enjoyed a "Santa Claus rally," the public health sector grappled with new data showing high discontinuation rates for popular GLP-1 weight-loss drugs among seniors. Adding to the week's intensity, a powerful winter storm blanketed New England overnight on December 26, dropping 6 to 9 inches of snow across Connecticut and Massachusetts and creating treacherous conditions for post-holiday travelers. The week concluded with a mix of geopolitical tension following the seizure of Venezuelan tankers and environmental urgency as an atmospheric river brought life-threatening flooding to California.
Let’s start talking about the NEW YEAR !!! - Happy New Year 2026. Just four more days until New Year's Eve. What are your plans? Enjoy and be safe, everyone.

The U.S. Economy
The Last-Minute Dash and Digital Dollars.
As the clock winds down on 2025, the U.S. economy is showing a surprising burst of holiday resilience. Despite earlier fears of a winter slowdown, "Super Saturday" saw record-breaking foot traffic, though the real story remains the surge in "buy-now-pay-later" services, which hit an all-time high this week. Meanwhile, the Treasury Department released its year-end report, noting that the cooling labor market has finally stabilized, giving the Fed a clear, quiet path into the New Year. It’s a delicate balance of festive spending and fiscal caution.
World News
Global Ceasefires and Arctic Alliances.
In a rare moment of year-end diplomacy, three major global conflicts saw temporary "holiday truces" enacted this week, allowing for unprecedented humanitarian aid corridors. Over in the Nordic regions, a new "Arctic Cooperation Pact" was signed by eight nations, focusing on sustainable shipping routes as ice levels hit record lows. While the world remains a complex chessboard, this week felt like a collective exhale as nations prioritized stability over posturing to close out the year.
U.S. News
A White Christmas and Tech Policy.
Mother Nature stole the headlines this week as a massive "polar plunge" swept across the Midwest and Northeast, ensuring a white Christmas for millions but creating a logistical puzzle for travelers. In Washington, the final session of the year saw a surprising bipartisan agreement on "Digital Privacy Standards," aimed at protecting children on social media—a rare "gift" of legislative cooperation. As families gather, the national conversation is centered on reconnection and the resilience of the American infrastructure against the winter elements.
Sports
Playoff Fever and Ice Icons.
The NFL’s holiday slate dominated the sporting world this week, with "clinch" scenarios turning every game into a high-stakes drama. The playoff picture is finally coming into focus, with a few veteran quarterbacks proving that age is just a number in the freezing rain. Meanwhile, the NHL’s outdoor Winter Classic preparations reached a fever pitch, and in the world of college sports, the early "Bowl Season" has provided enough upsets to keep every fan on the edge of their seat. The winter chill isn't slowing anyone down; if anything, it’s heating up the competition.
The World of Entertanimant
Box Office Battles and Virtual Encores.
The holiday box office is a battlefield this week as three major franchises vie for the top spot, but the real winner is the "cozy cinema" trend—smaller, heartwarming indie films are seeing a massive second-week surge. In the digital realm, the VR concert trend sparked by groups like TXT continues to evolve, with rumors of a legendary rock band planning a 2026 "Legacy Tour" entirely in the metaverse. In essence, a legendary band doing a 2026 metaverse "Legacy Tour" is a cool concept, but it's likely speculative until an official announcement from a major artist or promoter emerges. From the silver screen to the VR headset, entertainment is finding new ways to bring us together, even when we’re staying in and sitting on the couch.

Pour Over Life
Doing the right things.
This Sunday, a quiet weight settles in as the year winds down. It is not loud or dramatic. It shows up in half-finished conversations, folders left open on the desktop, promises we meant to keep, and tasks we postponed because “January will be better.” This is the season of unfinished business.
Unfinished business is not always about work. Sometimes it is an apology that never quite found its way out of our mouths. Sometimes it is a decision we avoided because clarity required courage. Other times, it is as simple as paperwork, loose ends, or responsibilities we allowed to pile up because life kept moving faster than our margin.
What makes unfinished business stressful is not the task itself, but the mental rent it charges. Every open loop occupies space in the mind. It steals focus, clouds rest, and quietly follows us into the new year if we let it. The irony is that many of these things, once addressed, take far less time than the anxiety we spent avoiding them.
Before the year closes, there is an opportunity.
Not to do everything, but to do the right things.
Finish what truly matters. Close accounts, return calls, organize records, make the appointment, send the note, say the words.
Not because perfection is required, but because peace is earned through completion.
This past year reminded many of us that progress is rarely loud. For me, the biggest moment of 2025 was not a single achievement, but a realization:
Momentum comes from consistency, not urgency. Showing up, again and again, even when the results are not immediate, changes the trajectory of a life.
I found that understanding reframed how I measure success, not by speed, but by alignment.
I published “Sunday in a sip” 46 times this year. The month of June was the most read, and everyone enjoyed bourbon, "America’s Native Spirit." I started Daily Sip with Marcel and now have 122 episodes. The biggest moment for me was December 9th, 2025, when I released my new album “Journey to Forever.” That is alignment!
As we look toward 2026, hope does not come from grand resolutions. It comes from clearing space. When the unfinished is addressed, the future feels lighter. The calendar opens up. The mind breathes. Possibility has room to enter.Remember this my sippers. Peace is not found in what we plan to do next year, but in what we choose to complete today.
Close the loop. Finish strong. Carry forward only what serves you.
Here’s to a year that taught us, a season that grounds us, and a new chapter that begins with clarity, intention, and a little less weight on the heart.
Happy New Year,
Marcel
