Presidents who Loved Coffee

Theodore Roosevelt, known for his boundless energy, found solace in coffee. He'd drink several cups each day, invigorated by its rich flavor. As he navigated the pressures of the Oval Office, coffee became his trusted companion, fueling his dynamic leadership and iconic policies. It was more than a drink; it was a catalyst for his unyielding spirit.

Theodore Roosevelt wasn’t the only U.S. president who sincerely appreciated coffee. Several other commanders-in-chief also had ties to the beloved beverage, whether as avid drinkers or through business ventures.

Thomas Jefferson, known for his refined tastes, declared coffee “the favorite drink of the civilized world.” While he did not own a coffee business outright, he was instrumental in popularizing coffee culture in America. Jefferson imported and stocked quality coffee beans at his Monticello estate, advocating for their place at the American table as an alternative to tea following the Revolutionary War. His meticulous records showed his commitment to quality coffee, sourcing beans from the West Indies and beyond.

Perhaps the most direct link between the presidency and the coffee business came with Herbert Hoover. Before his time in the White House, Hoover was a successful businessman and humanitarian who played a role in stabilizing global food supply chains. As part of his efforts, he worked on coffee trade agreements and supported the industry, ensuring a steady supply during economic downturns. His business acumen helped keep coffee affordable for the American public during turbulent times.

For many presidents, coffee has been more than a drink. It has become a symbol of energy, diplomacy, and economic strategy. Whether as a personal indulgence or a key policy component, coffee remains intensely brewed into the history of the American presidency.

Economy

So we were lied to again the real numbers for the inflation rate reported this week is now 3.3%. The data for January 2025, on February 12, 2025 showed us again that our Government under the Biden administration reported the the inflation rate was lower than reported. We all new this right. Just like the job numbers last week’s revision. The core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, rose by 0.4% from December and 3.3% year-over-year. If you’re heating your home and eating you will feel a bigger hit in you cost of living. I shopped for eggs, now $15 a dozen, and learned that the Biden Administration in the last quarter of 2024, had ordered the killing of over 20 million egg-laying chickens.

Grocery prices surged by 0.5% month-over-month, partly due to an egg shortage caused by avian flu, while energy expenses increased by 1.8%

Chicken Population

Farmers are focusing on repopulating barns with new chicks. It takes approximately 19-20 weeks for these chicks to mature and start laying eggs, which is a critical timeline for replenishing the flock. Look forward to eggs in July, just in time for hamburgs and hot dogs.

Ukraine’s future

President Donald Trump never one for playing by the rules, jumps headfirst into peace talks with Russia—minus Ukraine and its European pals. Because, why bother with the people actually fighting the war, right? The nearly three-year conflict is on the table, and whispers say NATO membership and Ukraine’s borders might be up for grabs. Zelenskyy? Not thrilled. He’s calling for a “just” peace, because let’s face it—trusting Putin is like lending your best mink to a moth. Meanwhile, Europe’s leaders are demanding a seat at the table before this deal turns into another one of history’s fine messes.

Pour Over Life

You know what’s good for you? No, not just drinking more water or finally stretching before working out. Giving. Science (and your grandma) confirms that doing nice things for others makes you feel fabulous. Turns out, generosity isn’t just for the saints. That's right, it’s for anyone who wants a free dose of happiness.

That’s the idea behind random acts of kindness. Just the little moments of compassionate generosity ripple out like a feel-good tsunami. Sure, kindness might come back around to you (hello, karma!), but that’s not the point. The real reward? You feel good just doing it. It’s like the universe high-fiving you for not being a jerk.

So, here’s a fun challenge: Do one small, kind thing every day. Help someone carry their groceries, pay a compliment, and hold the door open like a total legend. Watch how those feel-good vibes start stacking up. Before you know it, you’re addicted to kindness like it’s your new favorite coffee order.

Go on, lift someone up today. Even if all you do is make them smile, that’s enough.

Now, what’s your kindness move today?
