Welcome to Sunday in a Sip. It's July 13th, 2025, the road is calling, and we at Sunday in a Sip answered, seatbelt buckled and coffee in hand. Tomorrow starts Operation Safe Driver Week, so we’re shifting into gear with a message that’s got more grip than a fresh set of tires. We’re cruisin’ calm, not reckless; tuned in, not tuned out. Now, it’s time to start reading today’s brew. It’s smooth, steady, and made for the long haul. Life’s got curves, detours, and a few speed bumps, but here, we drive mindful. We pause. We sip. We signal our intentions and take in the view. So before you floor it through another week, glance in the rearview, better yet, check all your mirrors, and roll with us, one thoughtful, intentional sip at a time.
Let’s talk over a cup of coffee
The Slip Heard Around the World
This week, let’s take a slow sip and talk fashion—the kind that doesn’t just walk the runway, but sets the pavement on fire.
Kim Kardashian didn’t just show up. She showed out. And like a double espresso with extra whip, her presence was bold, nostalgic, and dripping in drama.
First up, the slip dress. That lace-trimmed, body-hugging wonder we all flirted with in the ‘90s is strutting back into the spotlight, and this time, it’s not just bedroom-to-boardwalk chic. Thanks to Kim’s runway revival, expect to see this lingerie-inspired silhouette doing double duty like a candlelit dinner and coffee run.
But what’s delicate without drama? Enter: the oversized fur coat. When Kardashian wrapped herself in that voluminous masterpiece, she didn’t whisper winter, she roared. The contrast between soft slips and statement outerwear is the new yin and yang of cold-weather glam.
And then—bling. Layered diamond necklaces that looked like they belonged in a museum and vintage earrings that could start a bidding war. She’s clearly not here for “less is more.” This is the season of maximalist jewelry, darling. The more sparkle, the better.
Pair that with her Old-Hollywood bob, a perfect side part, and makeup Marilyn would envy? We’re witnessing a glamour renaissance, all soft curls, winged liners, and unapologetic femininity.
But before the runway even heated up, Kardashian already teased us with a pop of Barbiecore. Yes this is a term, go pink. She pranced in a neon pink Balenciaga gown served up hot with a side of pantaboots (combines pants and boots into one). This is something that will be on the streets of New York City tomorrow. Loud, playful, and totally unforgettable. Barbie didn’t just dream it, Kim wore it.
Isn’t this fun to talk about over a cup of coffee? Trends are circling back, but with sharper edges and fearless energy. Vintage is having a moment, bold color is stomping into your closet, and subtle is taking a coffee break.
Whether you’re reaching for lace, fur, or neon, this season’s memo is clear:
Make it memorable. Make it yours. And never underestimate the power of a good outfit and a strong cup of coffee.

BLOODBATH IN GAZA, MISSILES IN UKRAINE: MIDEAST AND EUROPE IN FLAMES
The world is watching in horror as two war-torn regions erupt with fresh bloodshed and missile fire — with Gaza drowning in devastation and Ukraine reeling from Russia’s deadliest air assault since the 2022 invasion.
In Gaza, more than 100 Palestinians were killed in just 24 hours as Israeli airstrikes pounded the besieged strip. The battered region, already grappling with a humanitarian crisis, is now on the brink of total collapse, with fuel shortages threatening hospitals, aid operations, and civilian survival.
Israeli officials maintain the strikes are targeting Hamas strongholds, but the rising civilian death toll is drawing international outrage. Smoke-filled skies and crumbling buildings paint a grim picture of a region spiraling deeper into despair.
Meanwhile, in Eastern Europe, Russia unleashed a massive barrage of drones and missiles — its largest aerial attack since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Cities across Ukraine were rocked by explosions overnight, as air raid sirens blared and civilians took shelter in subway tunnels.
The attack was so severe that neighboring Poland activated its air defenses, fearing spillover into NATO territory. Tensions in the region are now white-hot, with analysts warning of possible escalation beyond Ukraine’s borders.
Backroom ceasefire negotiations are reportedly underway in both conflicts. In Gaza, mediators are working around the clock with hopes of brokering a truce by week’s end. In Ukraine, diplomatic efforts remain stalled as the Kremlin doubles down on its offensive.
With two powder kegs igniting across continents, the world braces for what could be a long, volatile summer of war.
U.S. News
TEXAS UNDERWATER — AND UNDER FIRE.
What was supposed to be a weekend of fireworks turned into a full-blown nightmare as flash floods swallowed parts of Texas and New Mexico, leaving a staggering trail of death, destruction, and unanswered questions.
In Texas, at least 109 are confirmed dead and a frantic search is underway for more than 170 still missing after torrential rains slammed into communities during the July 4th holiday. Entire towns were caught off guard, with residents slamming officials for slow emergency alerts and a botched disaster response.
“This wasn’t just water — it was like the earth opened up and swallowed us,” said one Hunt, Texas resident whose home was swept away in the torrent.
Rescue teams are still digging through debris and sifting through collapsed homes as families wait in anguish for updates. Roads have turned to rivers, and power is out for thousands across the Lone Star State.
Meanwhile in neighboring New Mexico, rivers surged to record-breaking levels, killing at least three people, including two children, and sweeping away cars, trailers, and anything in their path. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham called it “a once-in-a-century flood,” but furious locals say they got little to no warning.
And while Mother Nature’s wrath rages on in the South, a political storm is brewing in D.C.
In a bombshell decision, the U.S. Supreme Court gave the green light to mass firings at federal agencies, handing the Trump administration sweeping new powers to gut entire departments without congressional approval.
As the nation battles rising waters and rising tensions, one thing’s for sure: the storm is far from over.

Change Is the Law of Life — So Stop Fighting It.
Do you really want to hear the truth? Change is inevitable. Whether we like it or not, life will shift, shake, and reroute us. Careers evolve, relationships transition, industries disrupt, and plans fall apart. Clinging to the past or trying to freeze the present will only leave you stuck, because change doesn’t wait for your permission.
If you're constantly looking backward, you’re living in a memory. If you only focus on preserving the present, you're limiting your growth. And if you resist change at every turn, you’re blocking the future that’s trying to unfold.
You can't control change. Not the timing, not the way it presents itself, and not how it impacts your life. But here’s what you can control…. Your response.
The moment you stop resisting and start surrendering, that’s when real progress begins. Surrender doesn’t mean giving up. It means opening up. It means accepting what is, so you can move toward what could be. For me, letting go of control was when everything fell into place. I transitioned from being job-dependent to building my own thriving business. Not because I planned it that way, but because I allowed change to create space for something better.
The key to unlocking this lock is surrendering to change, which helps create opportunities. It leads you into rooms you never would’ve entered, introduces you to people you never would’ve met, and shows you parts of yourself you didn’t know were there.
So if you’re in a season of uncertainty, listen to the voices telling you that you’re not falling behind. You’re being pushed forward.
Let go of the fear. Let go of the old plan.
The future isn’t something to fear, it’s something to welcome. But only if you stop fighting the wind and let it carry you. Because when you stop resisting change, you don’t lose control, you gain your freedom.
